Heaaaaad...

Paulchen was so cute today.  When we wanted him to get up from his nap, Paul grabbed Ava and placed her on the bed by his head.  Then he moved her hand to pat him on the head.  Speaking for her in a high pitched voice, "Wake up big brudder, wake up."  Paulchen shifted around, but finally woke up and looked at her.

When he stepped out of bed, he saw all of us looking at him he was the greatest.  He smiled, placed his hands on his head and said, "heaaad..." and we all sang the song while he and we did the movements.  he must have been half asleep though, for when we finished the song, he walked into his dresser.  It was great.

Big and Growing

I took Aveline to the doctor's today for her four month checkup.  She was 13 lbs 9 1/2 oz and 24.5 inches.  She's growing very nicely.  Of course she had her shots and was NOT thrilled, but she recovered quickly.

Ava is so bad with her need for attention.  I was sitting right by her the other night, but she was crying.  She I looked at her and she stopped immediately and began cooing and smiling.  I looked away for a little while and she began crying again.  Paul told me to look at Ava and once again, she immediately stopped crying and began cooing.  It was annoying, but so sweet.

Giggles and Tag

Today, I tried to get Paulchen to kiss his sister, but he just wasn't interested at that point.  Instead, he kept backing up.  As far as I was concerned, he was just asking for Ava to pick on him.  So I had her "run" after him.  It was more of a hop actually as I held her under the arms and raised and lowered her to the floor.  So she hopped after her brother and finally cornered him.  Once there I had her punch his belly a little and give him lot of hugs followed by a kiss.  This whole event had Ava giggling like crazy.  Then Paulchen got into it as well.  So he ran to another area and she chased him again.  They both had a blast.

One routine we started makes Paulchen very happy.  Since I put Ava down for a nap and bed at the same time, I have him help me with her.  I tell him it's "Night night" and he followes me into her room.  At some point before we reach her room, I give Paulchen her stuffed frog, Grins.  I have Paulchen give her a kiss and then I lay her in her crib.  Paulchen then gives Grins to Ava and says "Night night".  We leave the room with him saying "Night night" and he helps close her door.  Then it's time for him to go to bed.  It's so sweet and he really likes to help with "Night night" now.

Girlfriend
We went over to some friends' house for the 4th of July today. There were a handful of people and we had a good time. Paulchen however, wasn't quite so pleased. There was a little 3 year old, Lila, who kept following him around. She chased and he ran. Then whenever our friend's large German Shepherd entered the chase, she ran. It was rather funny.

But it was also so cute. It was like Paulchen was getting chased by a potential girlfriend She even hugged him a little a few times. At one point, Paulchen let out a "Nooo". I can't think how to simply describe his tone. It was a cross between exasperation and warning. All I could say to Paul when I heard that, was "No means no." It was like our little boy was being harassed. Later however, he started to get on with Lila a bit. He sat next to her and played near her, though not necessarily with her.

Paul also noticed that Paulchen would point to something and Lila would look. We haven't a clue if they understood each other, but they seemed to get on well enough.

Breast Pump
Paulchen was behind me today, inhaling and exhaling very heavily. I figured he was just making noises and went about my business. Then Paul asked if I was teaching our son how to inhale, like inhaling drugs. He was being a putz. But I turned and looked at our son and did a double take. Then I told Paul to come and truly look at his son.

I had an unused suction cup that attached to my breast pump. Since it was unused and separated from the pump, I forgot to store it away. Paulchen had taken it and placed it to his breast and was mimicking the sounds the breast pump machine made. Even though it has been a month, he remembered what I did with the cup and copied me.

We both started cracking up at the sight. Fortunately I caught him on film. This has to be the ultimate piece of blackmail for when he gets older. I can just imagine playing that clip for his girlfriends.
