Slight Delay

I just wanted to get the word out real quick, this week's episode will be ready on either Thursday or Friday.  I had a request to do an episode on Machu Picchu and I am INCREDIBLY stubborn.  I only have one tiny piece of information on it in our library and tha bases around here didn't have anything to really help me, so I have nothing.  Yet I kept trying to find enough information.  So the episode is unable to happen until I get near a real library.  Also, it delayed me in preparing a full episode.  So I've been chastised for my stubbornness and am ready to move on to another idea for this week.

While this means there's a wretched delay in this week's episode, it will be less of a wait between this week's and next week's.

Also, it probably didn't help that I've been sleeping more this week.  Our son has been getting ready for the tumultuous threes and letting us know that he can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants and we just have to accept it.  Only, we don't accept it and let him know.  Basically, it's been a warzone at home.  I swear the neighbors can hear the yelling 3 blocks away sometimes.  So Paul and I stole away for a LONG hike in the hills to visit some sights.  We were sun-drenched and wiped and now we're still catching up on lost sleep.  The fact that it's 9:30pm and I'm still up, means I'm almost back to my old lack of sleep schedule.  Plus, in my few quiet, waking hours, I was busy helping a friend do a rush job on embroidery for our SCA group.  Doing a split stitch with very fine silk thread, is tiring and blinding.

So there's been a few factors these past two weeks.  But things are settling down and I'll be back up to date soon.  Also, we did get our new modem and so far it's been fine (knock on wood).  So, please forgive me and the new episode will be up later this week.  Thanks.

Just wanted to drop a line and say how impressed I am with the podcast.  I really enjoyed the Beowulf episode, and as an english student I found the Robyn Hode episode illuminating (since it's not something I've really had a chance to study).  Also I like the reading suggestions at the end of each episode.

For anyone wanting some audio files of spoken old english, or is interested in learning old english, Peter Baker's electronic introduction  is a tremendous resource:  http://www.wmich.edu/medieval/resources/IOE/index.html

Any plans on an episode on Chaucer and/or the Canterbury Tales?

Keep up the good work!

Just thought I'd drop a line. I'm just interested in ancient/medieval history and by no means a scholar. I find these podcasts extremely interesting and easy to keep up with (for those not up on all their dates and names). I just found the podcasts today, but I've listened to the first three already. Just thought I'd say that it's very interesting and that I'm very excited to listen to more. Keep up with the great work.

Ps. The music is a very nice touch!

Pss. Hope to maybe hear your side of Hippocrates and his oath (being a student massage therapist and needing to follow what is considered the newer version of his 'oath'). There is some controversy there, from what I understand. Truthfully, I don't know much about the whole thing, or him for that matter.

I have enjoyed the podcasts thus far as they are very easy to listen to. Keep up the good work. My only complaint is they are too short! My commute is over an hour and I was able to listen to all 7 episodes in one round trip (to and from work). Eagerly awaiting the next episode!

Hi all,

Firstly I REALLY enjoy the 7 podcasts I have listened to, and can't wait for the next. As I write this it is May 16, and its been a month or so since the last episode, and last blog entry. I am wondering if all is well. You get to feel that you almost know someone after reading their web page and hearing their voice for 7 wonderfull episodes.

I hope all is well andthat we will soon get more episodes.

Hi.  I'm a new listener to the podcast, and I just wanted to say I've been really enjoying what I've heard so far!  I go to Ithaca College (close to your Oswego roots), and I'm working on a paper on Justinian.  Any plans to do a podcast on the Byzantines?

I too really enjoyed the recipes episode.  I think more hands on episodes would be fun.  Also, Chaucer would be a great podcast.  I heard he was a character but am not sure if that is myth or fact.

I have really enjoyed this podcast. Your attention to detail and genuine passion for history are very impressive. Although I've briefly studied medieval and (particularly) ancient history, I learned something new from every episode. I'd love to hear more in future, I do hope the hiatus proves to be temporary.

Are you going to start podcasting again?  I just discovered it and listened to them all and then realized that there hasn't been a new episode in 2 years...  sad.
