Welcome to our little corner.
As my husband and I are both history scholars, we will endeavor to put together
historically accurate podcasts, relating to the fields we most enjoy.
My husband studies Ancient and Classical history, while I study Medieval
history. While there is no exact day that the Middle Ages ended, a
commonly accepted time frame was the late 15th century. We will keep
that as our limit as well. This still gives us approximately 3,000
years to play with. One thing about history, that many people don't always consider, is there is much more than names, places and dates. One of my interests in history is the "how". How did people live? I'm not just talking politics and societal structure, but what they wore. What did people eat? What did they do when they actually had free time to enjoy themselves? People in history weren't just objects, but living human beings and had their own styles and ways of life. While many of these activities and so on don't necessarily relate to us today, they do make up the people of the past and are fascinating as well as the standard facts. Also, I am interested in arts and crafts, so I like to recreate crafts and sciences from different time periods. So I plan to delve into these subjects as well. Also, from time to time, we will touch upon more "modern" subjects, as there are a few topics dear to our hearts that don't fall into our respective time periods and studies. Please bear with the simplicity of this page. It is our hope that it will grow in time and reflect our enjoyment of history, as well as the research we embark on to provide our listeners with wonderful snippets of history. |
