Trucks and Oranges

I was at work today and after a while went to check on Paulchen.  I knew he was back in the office, but I wasn't sure what he was up to.  When I entered the room, I was assaulted with the smell of orange.  I looked at Paulchen and saw he was eating a Clementine orange.  What I couldn't figure out was, where the rind went.  I looked in the garbage and found it.  After watching me once a few days before, Paulchen figured out how to peel the rind and made sure to throw it away.  So now he has his own crate of oranges to snack on.

Later, when we were at home for the night, he was playing with his little wooden blocks.  When I looked over, he smiled up at me and said "Truck".  I looked at his creation and it really did look like a truck.  Not only was he using his imagination, but he put enough effort in to make what he saw.  He's a very clever young man.

Stand Up, Baby Stand Up...

I was half out of it today and trying to take a nap.  Unfortunately Ava was up at the time and I brought her to bed with me.  She however would not let me sleep peacefully.  Every few moments I was woken by a little girl moving around and squealing.  At one point I opened my bleary eyes and saw what looked like Ava standing in the middle of the bed.  Since my vision was blurred from sleep, I couldn't believe it.  I fought off sleep and tried to make my vision as clear as possible.  I wasn't seeing things!

Ava moved about the bed and every few minutes she would stand up for a few moments.  I was so impressed and proud.

Bike Riding Ass Biter

Today was a rather interesting day.  Paul took Paulchen out to ride his bike.  Paulchen isn't any good at riding his bike, but he gets very excited over the idea and it was nice for him to be out with Da.

Tonight however, wasn't quite so pleasant.  I was on the phone with my father and bent over to pick up some of Paulchen's mess.  He was sticking his head in my butt, which was annoying, but silly, so I really didn't mind.  Then suddenly I felt a shooting, stinging pain under my left butt cheek.  I swore loudly into my father's ear on the phone, which surprised him and then yelled at my husband.  I kept telling him to smack his son, but he didn't get it.  He kept asking me why, so I told him Paulchen bit me.  Then he kept asking me where.  When I finally told him, he sat down on the floor, hugging our son and convulsing in a fit of laughter.

When Paul took a look at the bite, he told me Paulchen actually broke skin and we cleaned it out.  It's upsetting that he didn't pop Paulchen on the bottom, but sat there and laughed with him.  That won't help in the future, as Paulchen probably thinks it's funny to bite so hard.

Phonics & Bowling

I did a review of the alphabet with Paulchen today, up to the letter "L".  I asked him what each of the letters "said".  He got the phonics correct on almost every letter.  I am very proud of him.

Later in the day we took Paulchen bowling.  He LOVED it.  We didn't get bumpers put in the lanes, but they had a rack that you place the ball on and the child pushes it to roll down the lane.  Paulcehn was very excited every time the pins fell down.  He even had a strike once, but the computer jammed up and we had to redo that frame, so it didn't register.  He also loved to run back to the ball return and watch as the bowling balls came back.  It was really cute.

Independant Baby

Well, it seems Ava is trying to assert her independance just as much as her brother now.  She does very well with the sipper cup, so we keep one of water, out for her.

Today, I placed the cup on the chair next to me and Ava came over to play and drink.  At one point she placed the cup on the computer and I moved it and said "No".  While her cup is pretty leak-proof, I didn't want to take the chance that it would leak and damage the computer.  Ava lookde right at me and smiled, then placed the cup right back on the computer.  She and I moved the cup back and forth between the chair and the computer a few times, before I moved the cup further away and she became tired of the game.  It was very frustrating, as she knew exactly what she was doing, the little goof.
